Vic: Man airlifted to hospital, wife also injured in burglary

A violent burglary in Melbourne overnight has resulted in a man being airlifted to
hospital in a critical condition with head injuries.

A police spokesman says the man's wife is also in hospital with head injuries after
one or more intruders broke into their Hopper's Creek home in Melbourne's south-west.

The couple's four children aged between one and 12 years were in the home but were unharmed.

The spokesman says it appears the intruders were armed but it isn't yet clear what
the weapon was.

He says detectives have sealed the area around the home pending further investigations.
