Vic: "Fire" that stopped flight was apparently a trick of light

Singapore Airlines says there was no fire on one of its planes that had to make an
emergency landing in Melbourne last night.

The airline issued a statement at O1:30 AEDT saying the so-called fire was an apparent
a trick of the light.

The airline says investigating engineers found no evidence of fire.

Engineers looking into reports of a fire in an engine pod of the Singapore Airlines
Boeing 747-400, operating from Melbourne to Singapore yesterday, are now satisfied there
was NO fire.
